first_imgTainted trio: Everyday new revelations upset the world cricket.Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed on Sunday said there was no threat to their remaining England tour despite more revelations on match-fixing by British tabloid News of the World.Saeed refused to react on Yasir Hameed’s interview to the tabloid in which he claimed to have said that almost all the Pakistan matches were fixed.Pakistan, who lost the Test series 1-3, are to play Twenty20 and One-day series in their remaining tour.”As far as I know the series is on and we have just been told to focus on the matches,” he said in a brief conversation.The International Cricket Council has provisionally suspended Test captain Salman Butt and pace bowlers Mohammed Asif and Muhammad Aamir for their alleged involvement in spot- fixing and betting during the Lord’s Test against England.Meanwhile, former captain Imran Khan appealed for calm saying until the allegations were proven, the media and others should refrain from creating panic.But he admitted that the Pakistan Cricket Board had faulted by not being pro-active enough in the issue.”I think the PCB should have acted first and suspended the players and made them sit out until these allegations were cleared. If I was in the PCB I would make every effort to carry out a full scale investigations into these allegations and try to prove their innocence,” he said.last_img
