Olivier Giroud responds to talk of leaving Arsenal for Marseille

first_img Olivier Giroud 1 Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has stated that he would consider a move back to Ligue 1 with Marseille – but not anytime soon.The Frenchman, who joined Arsenal from Montpellier in 2012, signed a new deal with the Gunners in January which ties him to the club until the summer of 2019.Montpellier’s Ligue 1 rivals Marseille are assembling a strong team to challenge for the title next season, bringing in Dimitri Payet and Patrice Evra during the winter transfer window.And Giroud also admitted that he could move to Marseille later in his career, although he insists that a transfer will not happen in the near future.Asked whether he would consider a move to Ligue 1 or Marseille by French radio station RMC, he said: “Why not?“But I see my future, for the short or medium term, in England.“That’s why I extended my contract with Arsenal.”last_img
