first_imgLocalNews Attempted rape trial begins at High Court by: Dominica Vibes News – June 13, 2016 Tweet Sharing is caring! 803 Views   no discussions Sharecenter_img Share Share A six female, one male jury will decide the fate of a man from the south of the island who was indicted on three counts of sexual assault at the High Court of Justice in Roseau on Monday 13 June 2016.When the defendant appeared before High Court Judge Justice Errol Thomas, he pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted rape, one count of unlawful sexual connection and one count of indecent assault on an eighty-four (84) year old woman.The prosecution is represented by State Attorneys Carlita Benjamin, Sherma Dalrymple and the Director of Public Prosecutions Evalina Baptiste. The defendant, whose name cannot be released, does not have legal representation.According to information revealed in court by the Prosecution, the defendant entered the eighty-four year old’s house on the 31 of April 2014 in the early hours of the morning where he allegedly assaulted her.The trial is currently under way and the prosecution intends to call four witnesses.Meanwhile Kelvin Alexander and Omisi Odigie pleaded not guilty to aggravated burglary and theft when their indictments were re-read to them at the High Court on Monday.The co-defendants allegedly burglarized Western Union at Roseau and stole two hundred and nineteen thousand, three hundred and two dollars and twenty six cents, ($219, 302. 26) in cash and cheques.Attorney at Law Zena Moore Dyer, who is representing Omisi Odigie, requested that the matter be traversed to the next criminal session and it was set for 4 October 2016.last_img
