Columbia, SC (WLTX) – University of South Carolina Baseball Coach Chad Holbrook has gotten a two-year contract extension.The Board of Trustees approved the deal that will keep Holbrook as the leader of the team through the 2019 season.“I want to thank the Board of Trustees, Dr. Pastides and Coach Tanner for their unwavering commitment to the entire Gamecock baseball program and me,” Holbrook said in a statement. “It is really neat and comforting to be surrounded by such great leadership. South Carolina is a special place with the best fans in the country and I am fortunate to work with an incredible staff and a group of great players that continue to represent this university the right way. We look forward to getting back out on the field soon and are excited for the upcoming season and the years ahead.”Holbrook has coached the Gamecocks for three seasons since taking over for Ray Tanner, who left the job to become USC’s Athletics Director. In that time he’s led the team to three straight playoff appearances and a .696 winning percentage, the second-highest win margin over the first two seasons of any coach in school history.Last year the Gamecocks were 44-18, with an 18-12 mark in SEC play. The team set an all-time attendance record at home last season of 305,564, during the campaign.
