If ever there was a need for repositioning of the civil service, indeed, the entire Public Service, no period has greater claim to that imperative than the present. The past year has been the most eventful in recent memory. With the transformation processwell advanced, the words re-evaluate, re-newal, re-engineering, re-invent, re-align have taken root in the consciousness of all civil servants. As we seek to re-shape the reality of Jamaica toward the vision of “the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business”, let us commit to higher levels of professionalism and service. We must remain resolute and, through collective effort, translate the needs of the population we serve into more effective policies and programmes. Each of us, in re-positioning to support national development, should seize every opportunity created for personal development through education and training. We need to undertake “re-tooling” of our individual skill-sets and competencies. The environment in which we operate demands improved productivity, service excellence and sustained effectiveness with less financial resources. This call for us to do more with less requires innovative and creative solutions and approaches. Success is our only option. As we start the celebrations to commemorate Jamaica’s Fiftieth Anniversary of Independence, it is apt to recall the words of John F. Kennedy, “… let every public servant know, whether his post is high or low, that a man’s rank and reputation… will be determined by the size of the job he does… LET THE PUBLIC SERVICE BE A PROUD AND LIVELY CAREER…”. I commend all those being recognized at the Long Service Awards Ceremony, and I thank all those involved in the planning and execution of Civil Service week. I encourage all Public Servants to participate fully in the week of activities.center_img RelatedAmbassador Saunders Civil Service Week 2011 Message RelatedAmbassador Saunders Civil Service Week 2011 Messagelast_img read more

Peter King Links Browns to Brock Osweiler

first_img Matt Medley is co-editor at NEO Sports Insiders, covers the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians and high school sports in Northeast Ohio.Follow @MedleyHoops on Twitter for live updates from games. Peter King of Sports Illustrated and MMQB reported Monday morning that he could see the Cleveland Browns being interested in Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler. This is taken from King’s February 8th edition of MMQB:“I think one little bit of free-agency buzz I heard here is the Broncos won’t be surprised if Browns coach Hue Jackson does more than just sniff around Brock Osweiler. Cleveland is in an interesting spot, picking second in the first round with a cadre of interesting but not lock college quarterbacks on the board. They’re surely not prepared to know what they’ll do a month from now in free-agency, but if Jackson is shaky on Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch and Carson Wentz, maybe Cleveland will look at a reasonably priced (or so you would think) prospect like Osweiler.”Osweiler is fresh off of winning a Super Bowl ring and his next step will be to decide whether or not he wants to stay in Denver or test the waters of free-agency. The Browns, as usual, have one thing on their mind; finding a quarterback. The 6’8″ 25-year-old has been in the NFL for four seasons after playing college ball at Arizona State University. He started seven games in the 2015 regular season and the Broncos went 5-2 in that stretch. Osweiler threw ten touchdown passes and six interceptions, with 1,967 passing yards. If the Browns were to entrust the starting quarterback role to Osweiler, it would be somewhat of gamble, given that Denver didn’t trust him to start in the playoffs, but then again, the Browns don’t have a Hall of Famer who would be in front of him in the depth chart.
