first_imgRelatedStrathmore Gardens Children’s Home to benefit from donation RelatedStrathmore Gardens Children’s Home to benefit from donation Strathmore Gardens Children’s Home to benefit from donation CultureDecember 23, 2010 RelatedStrathmore Gardens Children’s Home to benefit from donationcenter_img FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmail Residents of the Strathmore Gardens Children’s Home in St. Catherine should be having a brighter Christmas this year through the efforts of the St. Catherine Parish Council and telecommunications company, LIME.On Thursday (December 23), staff of the Parish Council will deliver toys and other gifts to the home, which were garnered through a collection drive, while LIME will donate groceries and a large assortment of clothing and other items.Executive Secretary at the St. Catherine Parish Council, Marcia Reid, told JIS News that the home located in the Crescent area of Spanish Town, was chosen to benefit from special assistance at the urging of a co-worker, who had visited the facility and seen the areas of need. “We decided we’d do Strathmore this year, and we’ll continue to support the home,” she said.Mrs. Reid said that the donation would go a far way in ensuring that the 44 residents of the home, whose ages range from 18 months to 20 years, would enjoy a brighter Christmas.She promised that a “bigger and better” event is being planned for the home for 2011. “Next year, we’ll get our members together to go out there for the entire day. Several witnesses reported seeing the subject at various locations.The subject was located on the 2100 block of Ocean Avenue. The subject was detained for an investigation at the 1600 block of Ocean Avenue. The suspect admitted to possessing the knives for protection and the blade was concealed in his waistband.The suspect was placed under arrest for a weapons violation. Andrew Robert Fernandez, 25, homeless, was arrested for carrying a concealed knife. Paul Simon and Edie Brickell Arrested After Dispute

first_imgAccording to Rolling Stone, rock legend Paul Simon and his wife of 22 years, singer Edie Brickell, were both arrested on charges of disorderly conduct after an alleged “family dispute” which New Canaan police responded to at 8:20pm on Saturday night. Neither Simon nor Brickell were actually put into custody, but were both formerly issued summonses, and are expected to appear in Norwalk Superiro Court at some point today.Simon, 72, and Brickell, 48, married in 1992 and have three children together. At this time, no statements have been issued by either artist’s representatives. There are very little details to go on, other than police responded to a call received at 8pm, in which the caller immediately hung up the phone.A brief press release from New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski states, via the New Canaan Advertiser: “On Saturday, April 26, 2014, at approximately 8:20 pm, New Canaan officers responded to a location in New Canaan to investigate a Family Dispute.”Another officer told the Advertiser that it was “your typical dispute.
