It was fully loaded and ready to take on anyone who dared to invade Hoth with its light-up laser cannons (with battle sounds) and a removable grappling hook for tripping up walkers.So when Lego unveiled their latest addition to the Star Wars UCS line, I knew my wallet was in trouble. Their new Snowspeeder is a masterfully designed piece of nostalgia, from the massive heat-dispersing fins to its functional brake flaps.Like the UCS Slave I I mentioned in our rundown of Star Wars sets, this thing is big. It measures about 15 inches long and 11 inches wide, and when perched on the included stand it’s 8 inches high… so yes, you’re going to need to clear some room on your display shelf.Lego’s first Snowspeeder was released nearly two decades ago. It was a nice, simple little set with just over 200 parts. The new Ultimate Collectors Series cranks the pieces count up to 11. There are more than 1700 pieces in this bad boy, and Lego’s design team will happily take you on a walkthrough of them:Your Han Solo minifig is probably wondering if the speeders are ready. Well, they’re not having any trouble adapting them to the cold.
