LG will also be the first to ship a smartphone using the platform (its anticipated V20), and Google is believed to be planning new Nexus devices. But when it comes to existing owners of devices, upgrades are something of a mixed bag. While some vendors bring new versions of Android to their smartphones swiftly (Motorola, for example), others such as Samsung and Huawei have a mixed track record at best.According to figures from Google, just 15.2 per cent of devices using its Play services in the week to 1 August 2016 were running the latest version of Android (Android 6.0 Marshmallow), meaning it was less popular than the earlier Jelly Bean (which dates from 2012), KitKat and Lollipop variants.Indeed, much of the penetration of a new Android platform is dependent on new device sales rather than updates to smartphones already in the hands of customers, which explains the lag between new versions reaching the market, take up, and the slow erosion of share for earlier platforms.Reports earlier this year suggested that Google was looking at ways to encourage vendors to support earlier upgrades, including making public a listing of the times taken. In addition to making new features available to users, there are also security benefits to upgrading. The search giant said it took “a different approach” to building the platform, including giving early access to developers.Features available to users include personalisation options such as customisable quick settings, improved multitasking, and improved battery management features. Also added is support for Vulkan, an advanced 3D rendering API, and Daydream, Google’s platform for mobile virtual reality.Android’s security capabilities have also been beefed-up.In addition, Google is publishing the Android 7.0 source code to the Android Open Source Project. Bill To Strengthen Alaska’s Protective Orders Signed Into Law

first_imgKopp came up with HB12 after an Alaska Supreme Court ruling found that current state laws for protective orders were unclear. The bill allows victims to extend a protective order based on the original circumstances rather than wait for a new threat. Governor Dunleavy: “HB 12 strengthens Alaska’s protective order laws by allowing victims to request an extension of a protective order up to 30 days before and 60 days after it expires and provides greater clarity in Alaska’s protective order statutes.” House Bill 12 sponsored by Representative Chuck Kopp (R-Anchorage), a former Kenai police chief and 23-year law enforcement veteran. FacebookTwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享Governor Mike Dunleavy on Monday signed a bill into law that will allow victims of domestic violence to seek extensions of protective orders. Dunleavy: “Public safety is job number one for my administration, and this new law will help make Alaskans safer.”last_img read more

I felt like I was watching a real game. There was a review on Kotaku saying that you could put 2K12 on in a noisy sports bar, and probably a good number of the patrons wouldn’t be able to tell it wasn’t a live NBA game. I understand why now. Wow.You know, in my day, we had “Double Dribble”. Even on an iPhone it looks great. I can only imagine what it will be on a 46 inch HD screen. nash61 Share this post Holy crap that looks real. That’s the first time ever a video game had me fooled thinking it was real life. That’s unbelievable, easily the best and smoothest commentary in any sports game yet. The presentation looks incredible, and the environment seems very real.
