Argos Remain Ranked In Latest AVCA Top 25

first_imgSILENT AUCTION LINKPENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida volleyball team remained in the AVCA Division II Top 25 this week, checking in at No. 24. This is the second consecutive week and second week overall that UWF has been ranked in the nation’s Top 25. The Argos received 86 votes and remain the only GSC team in the national Top 25. The Argonauts (17-6, 7-0 GSC) are coming off a 2-2 week in which they scored a thrilling 3-2 October 10 win over the University of North Alabama in the UWF Field House. The Argos traveled to the South Region Crossover this weekend, downing Rollins on Friday before dropping close matches vs. Eckerd and No. 4 Palm Beach Atlantic. Nadine Williams starred for the Argos at the tournament, posting 42 kills and 46 digs in three matches.The No. 24 Argos travel to Valdosta State tonight (9-10, 4-3 GSC) for a 6:00 pm CST matchup. It will be the team’s first conference road match since a 3-1 win at Union October 7. The team returns home for GSC action vs. Mississippi College (10-13, 2-5 GSC) October 20 and vs. West Alabama (14-9, 6-1 GSC) October 21.The 3 p.m. contest October 21 vs. West Alabama will be UWF’s 11th annual “Pack It Pink” match. Over the past decade, the team has collected more than $50,000 to do its part in the fight against breast cancer. In lieu of tickets, the UWF athletic department will be accepting donations going towards the Pensacola Breast Cancer Association. A silent auction will run in conjunction with the event and will feature several themed gift baskets, UWF pink jerseys, gift cards, and much more.
